How We First came? Our Biological Orchard Home

Our desire was to enter the trade with a different approach. After numerous consultations with agronomists, we decided to "go bio". In a nutshell, this means that no pesticides nor chemical fertilizers are used; however, this doesn't imply that the orchard is allowed to grow wild and without control. The orchard is permanently monitored, and preventive action is taken against potential infestations, such as scab or invading insects, as soon as they are discovered. Our approach emphasizes dynamic bio-diversity through natural predation by birds and bats, for example. When required, only proven organic fertilizers are used for pest and disease control. We work in close cooperation with university students and institutions such as Université Laval and Biotep, who are constantly doing research work on single-insect-targeting viruses causing no harm to the remaining healthy part of the food chain.

We have taken training with Institut de La Pocatière and remain in constant contact with our agronomist. This alternative approach has developped into an educational endeavour, where great emphasis is placed on respect for the environment.
